Living Pattern Survey for Incirlik available through April 15
INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey --
The Department of Defense Per Diem Committee is conducting a Living Pattern Survey for service members at Incirlik through April 15, 2013.
The survey is intended to validate and adjust the amount of the cost of living allowance members receive to equalize the purchasing power. This enables members to purchase the same level of goods and services overseas that they would receive stateside.
"Our COLA is actually adjusted based off of the LPS," said Master Sgt. Melody Jackson, 39th Comptroller Squadron financial services flight chief. "The LPS is the living pattern survey and is sent to members to ask where they shop in the area and asks them the percent of purchases from each place."
According to Jackson the last survey for Incirlik was conducted in 2010. and it is very important that they receive accurate data.
"Participation in the survey is voluntary, but the more people that respond the better it will be," Jackson explained. "It is more representative for what is actually happening at our assignment."
The survey is available to all members currently stationed at Incirlik and their spouses who have been at Incirlik for a minimum of three months.
"It's for U.S. military members and their families," Jackson said. "They recommend that the person who does the most shopping in the household should take the survey, but it should be only one survey per household."
After the survey is conducted, the Per Diem Committee will use the collected information to conduct another survey, which prices items in the local economy where participants say they shop, to evaluate the COLA rate.
Jackson reemphasized that for more accurate results, maximum participation is highly encouraged.
"This is the only opportunity the base has to have their voices heard for their COLA," she said.
