Incirlik Readiness: Partnership achieves mission excellence

INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Successful mission accomplishment wouldn't be possible without teamwork and unit cohesion, and that doesn't only include team members from the 39th Air Base Wing. Airmen from all over the United States Air Forces Europe command stepped up and played an integral part in the great rating the wing received during a recent inspection of capabilities here at Incirlik Air Base.

As the inspection week drew ever closer, Team USAFE and Incirlik embraced the 'one team, one fight' ethos and inspected the 39th ABW's processes with a fine-toothed comb. Senior Master Sgt. Miles Bouck, USAFE staff member, highlighted this point.

"Team members from Incirlik and across USAFE worked tirelessly to contribute in numerous ways," said Bouck. "Whether with inspection prep, guidance, leadership, tiger teams, motivation and clarification, each were an invaluable facilitating tool in the inspection piece."

Working together through changes and correction was a detailed process but was highly appreciated by Lt. Col. David Holz, 39th Maintenance Squadron commander.

"The assistance from the staff visit and the returning staff team really helped us focus because they had a second set of eyes and saw things slightly differently than we did. It's good to get a different perspective," said Holz. "The assistance went above and beyond because I feel they made the staff visit harder than the inspection. They really embody the concept of 'train harder than you fight.'"

With so many different areas of responsibility, long hours and extended stays were necessary. Col. Craig Wills, 39th Air Base Wing commander, gave his thoughts on the teamwork concept taken on by USAFE at Incirlik.

"The teamwork demonstrated here proves it's not just about the 39th Air Base Wing or even USAFE - it's about providing air and space power, and maintaining our credibility with the American people," said Wills. "Whether we're projecting air power, providing combat support, maintaining nuclear surety capabilities or providing humanitarian aid, America expects us to do it to an extremely high standard and better than anyone in the world."

All of the combined efforts of the USAFE team show the accomplishments of the shared priorities to win the fight, strengthen the team, and shape the future.
