Cats ... Evita ... Grease ... Chicago ... all Broadway musicals that were featured Dec. 28 during the Showstoppers production of A Trip Through Broadway.

The show took more than 340 audience members through 11 different shows all put together by Showstoppers, a theatre troupe, headed by Samantha Blanchette, director, choreographer, dancer and singer for the show.

"When the curtains opened on the first number I was shocked to see all the people," said Rebecca Garber, a first time performer. "I've never done anything like this before and to do it for the first time in front of everyone was terrifying and yet very rewarding."

The show featured songs like 'Don't cry for me Argentina' from the musical Evita and 'Cell block' from the musical Chicago. The show ended with a Grease finale that had the whole audience clapping and singing along.

"I was pleasantly surprised," said Staff Sgt. Denver McCoy, 39th Communications Squadron system administrator. "I wasn't expecting to be so entertained."

Mrs. Blanchette was most appreciative of the performers in the show.

"I beg, borrowed and stole many base members, some of which have never danced before," she said. "We have become a family and I thank them so much. We fought tooth and nail to get the show out and we just appreciate the help we received."

"This performance showed me why people come out to the theatre instead of watching television at home," said Col "Tip" Stinnette, 39th Air Base Wing commander. "I want to thank them for giving Team Incirlik a reason to come out and enjoy the theater."

Showstoppers will soon be performing again and are already looking for interested singers, dancers and stage crew. For details, call Mrs. Blanchette at 676-2145.
